NEMWA is looking to expand its base of
qualified mat officials. If you are interested in being a referee for
NEMWA tournaments, please e-mail NEMWA Head
Official Ike Clelland. Or you can call Ike's home phone (989) 701-2169
or mobile phone (989) 965-0767. Here are some key points regarding
officials:
- Officials are scheduled in advance for
each tournament by the NEMWA head official in cooperation with tournament
directors.
- Officials are expected to know
NEMWA wrestling rules and how to apply them.
- Officials are paid $100 for
officiating an entire tournament.
- First-time officials must be at the
tournament by 8:00 a.m. for final training and testing. All
other officials must be present by 8:30 a.m.
- All officiating items are provided by
NEMWA or the tournament host except whistle and mat-friendly shoes.
Provided equipment includes striped referee shirt, red/green wrist bands,
and red/green "coin".
Update: NEMWA has approved the use of the
mat-side pair system for the 2009 season. Contact Carrie Beeson
